SoMo Borac is one of the most prestigious and relevant digital awards in the region. This year it has been awarded for the ninth time. The first seven were awarded in Rovinj, as part of the Pay Media Day festival. The previous two awards were given online, in offices of all agencies who took part in it.
SoMo Borac is a great opportunity for agencies to present their work, and compare their work with other agencies because this festival gathers the best digital marketing agencies in the whole region. This year, 153 agencies applied, from 4 countries. They were competing in 9 categories to win the prestigious award.
We have decided to analyze the best ones in order to figure out what makes them stand out from others and to discover the key to their success. Let’s start.
Somo content
After studying the works in this category, we revealed the following deeper meaning: Don’t ask what your audience can do for you but think about what you can do for your audience. Even better, what you and your audience can do together to make this world a better place.
The best three campaigns had great insight and bold realization, and the winner was A1 Slovenia and fairytales for kids with speech disorders. These fairytales had more than 240 K views, and are widely used in many educational institutions.
Somo tech
We got used to getting the most up-to-date works, related to the best application of technology for marketing purposes. This year we got the sweetest case too.
Pedigree dedicated their campaign to dogs, which was quite common. But what was different this time was the new way they used machine learning and API for face recognition. All the way through Croatia, they set the screens that would recognize dogs and show them commercials according to their size. You can see how they did it here. Special note: Sweetness alert!
“Somoritanac”
We are usually dazzled with works from this category, this year we had the same experience. The winners proved a good story doesn’t depend on the media it was exposed on.
A City Library in Porec managed to convert its disadvantages, caused by pandemics, to advantages, in a very creative way. You can check what they did here.
CM of the year
The creative, witty, and bold case doesn’t guarantee the award, but it might help. The winner, coming from Zagreb Degordian, applied this tactic. She recognized what it took to become a good Community Manager as if she read one of our previous blog posts.
One Hit Wonder
This is a very young category, so the agencies still didn’t figure out what types of work fit this category. But one thing was quite clear, it was this year’s winner.
Metalac Company managed to get the media space worth €10.000 and to get to RTS evening news, due to one Twitter post. This was certainly enough to win the award.
Somo Social
Somo Social awards the best digital content. The winner was the same one as in the previous category, with the same campaign. We concluded that digital marketing exists not only on Facebook and Instagram but everywhere on the Internet.
Somo Web
This award is related to websites. Whether the sites represent companies or one project only. Short video works the finalists created, we could learn how a modern, user-friendly website should look like. This time, we have chosen two cases.
Coolinarka is a well-known site, popping up as the first one when we search for any recipe on Google. The site was redesigned and it looks amazing. Check its new look here.
Croatia Insurance created a brand-new page, and this is a perfect example of online shopping.
Digital Mix and Somo App are two categories that didn’t attract our attention that much, first of all, because most of the finalists have been already mentioned within other categories. But, thanks to them, we’ve learned the advertising could be the best job ever. Congratulations to all colleagues on their success.
